Cesky Krumlov ranks among the most visited destinations in the Czech Republic. Located in picturesque Southern Bohemia, the city offers a unique excursion into the past and a wonderful tourist experience. Its buildings make it a treasure of worldwide importance on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Cesky Krumlov has two main parts: the upper town, with its castle and unique baroque theatre; and on the opposite bank of the river, the historic old town. The two are connected by three bridges. You will visit interiors from the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods with their many valuable collections of art.
If you enjoy romance, Cesky Krumlov is for you. Riverside restaurants and sidewalk cafes are perfect for a break, while numerous fine art and traditional craft shops offer opportunities for souvenirs and gift shopping.
What to visit:
The main feature of the town is the Renaissance Castle, the largest such complex in the Czech Republic after Prague Castle. The site consists of the Upper and Lower Castle, five castle courtyards, and the Baroque theatre, one of only a few in the world to have been preserved. A unique covered bridge connects the castle with its garden.
Other highlights include the Renaissance town hall, fountain and plague column, Church of St. Vitus and the historic quarters of Latrán and Parkán.
Originally a separate town, Latrán is the oldest part of Ceský Krumlov. Here you can admire the Budějovická Gate (the youngest and the only preserved gate of the original city fortifications). Other attractions include the Chateau brewery and the Minorite Monastery
